Our first international target is Rwanda, a country devastated nearly 20 years ago by genocide where approximately 1,000,000 people were killed in 100 days. The stories of the people are haunting. There are many still suffering from the pain and devastation that came over the country in 1994. Poverty plagues many in this country as well as unemployment rates linger around 60%. Abuse and neglect against women and children is high; many living on the streets suffer from violence while just trying to survive. Women and even young girls are lured away by human traffickers with promises of a better life only to find themselves caught up in a nightmare. Girls living on the streets with no where to go are raped and abused or resort to prostitution as a means of survival with sometimes only the hope of a better life. The hurt and pain run deep for many, but the presence of God can certainly be felt in this land. There is such a striking difference between the ones whose hope is in Christ and the ones who have no hope. Isaiah 61:1-3 says:
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the
poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from
darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to
comfort all who mourn, and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of
beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of
despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”
There is a breathtaking beauty and joy that can be seen deep within the soul of these women who have met Christ. The others seem to be an empty hole of pain and despair. We desire to STAND for these women and young children. We desire to introduce them to Jesus who is the one that turns the hopeless ashes into something more beautiful than before. We desire to see the dark holes of hopelessness radiate with life, hope, and purpose. How will this happen? AGAPE Village.
AGAPE Village located in Rwanda, Africa is a place that RESCUED women and children will be provided with a community of support for RESTORATION in Christ. The goal is to provide loving, nurturing homes where they are encouraged and EQUIPPED to grow, develop, and become productive and engaging members of society EMPOWERED to minister to the hurt in the surrounding communities.
I Will Stand International villages are comprehensive communities consisting of homes, a school, a medical facility, a church, farming and livestock programs, and various self-sustaining programs. Healing from violence, rape, human trafficking, and abandonment is encouraged in communities where others are dealing with the same issues. With your help, together we can RESCUE, RESTORE, EQUIP, and EMPOWER women and children around the world.
We currently have a team in Rwanda that is forming a street ministry to begin to minister to and build relationships with prostituted women. Our first phase of AGAPE Village is to establish an all inclusive shelter for the rescued women and girls and expand into a village in the future. The establishment of a shelter gets us on the ground helping the women much sooner.
So, you want to help?
Simply, we need financial support. This can come in the form of a one-time donation, monthly donations, and hosting events and/or fundraisers on our behalf. There is only so much any one of us can do by ourselves, but united and working together, we can do this.
